Two Reasons To Watch Horror Movies

Do you like horror movies? Do you know why you like watching horror movies? Here are probably the two main reasons why you, like me, love to watch horror movies.

I've always been fascinated by the unknown. And horror movies do run on the premise of the unknown and the supernatural (not all, unfortunately). Let's also just say that I'm a curious little cat. I love to explore the unknown and to uncover the truths behind it.

Even though I'm not as brave as I would like to be, I will still choose to watch a horror movie over other movie genres. I often wonder why but mostly it's out of curiosity. Below are probably the two most obvious reasons why I prefer watching horror movies over other movie genres and

the reasons that you too should watch horror movies.

1. Exciting Plot

Who wouldn't be excited when walking past a well-known haunted house? Or going into a haunted house at the fair? That is the same feeling I get when I watch a good horror movie. I remember how my heart beat so fast and so loudly when I watched Freddy Krueger chase after his victims in the first original Nightmare on Elm Street movie and I was in a dilemma between wanting to watch the movie further and for the movie to end quickly because I felt as if my heart was going to jump out of my body. It's no wonder people with a heart condition are not allowed in theatres where horror movies are shown. I will never fall asleep watching a good horror movie. The plot always keeps me on edge. This may be the most important reason to watch

horror movies.

2. Plot Twist

A good horror movie will always attempt to have a twist at the end. It's the reveal that will explain the whole story, the hauntings and the ghosts. Sometimes a clumsy horror movie cannot achieve a satisfactory twist ending and herein lies the difference between a good horror movie and one that is badly made.

M. Night Shyamalan's earlier movies like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable always contain this type of twist that will give you the "Aha" moment at the end of his movies. For most horror movies, you will always be expecting this twist ending that will make you be guessing throughout the movie. I even conduct guessing games with my companion who watches the movie with me (I don't watch horror movies alone) and see who can make the correct guess at the end of the movie.

Conclusion

Whether it's the plot or the twist ending, both these reasons are why I personally choose to watch horror movies over other genres of movies. Perhaps you have other reasons to watch horror movies or reasons not to watch them. No matter how horror movies frighten me, I will always be on the lookout for new horror movies. Know any good ones?
